Brittany Angell is the creator and chef behind BrittanyAngell.com, formerly known as Real Sustenance. Brittany has authored two best selling cookbooks: Essential Gluten Free Baking Guides Part 1 & 2. Q: How did you get involved in cooking to begin with? Was it something you learned to love early on or did you come to it later?

I became interested in cooking when I met my husband. Naturally I wanted to impress him and my love affair with my oven began. About a year later, my health started into a downward spiral- out of desperation to feel better I changed my diet and had to relearn how to cook and bake. My site was born (BrittanyAngell.com) dedicated to allergen free recipes. 2 books later, a 3rd on the way and over 800 recipes on the site — I can’t stop creating new recipes!


Q: Is it just about health? Or is there more to it than that?

I was diagnosed with Hashimotos disease roughly 3 years ago and with it learned just how important good food was. My stomach was a disaster and deserved the best care possible, which meant GOOD REAL Food. Grass-fed meat became a priority, and I haven’t looked back since (Plus, grass fed tastes better too!)


Q: Why is it so important to have the right ingredients?

The way I eat 100% effects how I feel on a daily basis! Using quality ingredients really has made a difference to my health. As a recipe developer I appreciate using only the best, and of course using great ingredients means great tasting food.


Q: What are your best tips for home cooking?

Always taste as you go! It’s almost impossible to ruin a dish this way.
