Reformed Vegetarian's Exotic Health and Fitness Getaway on the Big Island of Hawaii

Tucked away in a beautiful tropical jungle, less than 5 miles from the sparkling blue waters of the Pacific is Kieba's Bodytemple Bootcamp.

Kieba knows firsthand the importance of diet and nutrition. She has had her own personal journey back to health from extreme dieting and an overly restrictive raw vegan diet.

After moving to San Diego from the Midwest in the late 80's, Kieba began participating in natural bodybuilding competitions.

Keying in on the benefits of the restrictive diet that bodybuilders tend to follow, she cut fat, sugar and starches from her diet. This produced a lean, muscular look that gained her a big following with her personal training clientele.

Subject to the whims of California's dietary trends, Kieba soon dropped meat from her diet in favor of veganism. Dropping a bit more of her muscular bulk, she was happy with her lean, slender look.

However, several years of a strictly-followed raw vegan diet eliminated more than just fat--her body was withering away; and as the muscle began to dissolve, health problems began to emerge.

A sluggish gall bladder, not used to digesting the fats which she so zealously avoided, eventually quit functioning. Soon unable to digest any types of fats, severe flank pain would result from even minute amounts of fats or oils.

Blood counts began dropping rapidly with both the red and white cell counts dropping into the danger zones. Her liver enzymes elevated as her body actually began to digest itself in lieu of any other usable protein. Muscles shriveled, more weight came off her gaunt frame, and her energy faded.

A book titled "We Want to Live" by Aajonous Vonderplanitz provoked some thought, and along with the increasingly alarming labwork from her physicians, Kieba began to introduce fresh, organic, U.S. Wellness grass-fed beef, liver and raw diary products in her diet. She found her body was starving for this vital food, and she began to eat organic grass-fed meat; including lamb, rabbit, and goat, as well, on a regular basis.

In very short order, blood counts returned into the normal ranges, and the healthy glow returned to her skin, hair and face. Muscle reshaped her fragile body, and soon Kieba found that her energy, health, sleep, and normal body function had returned.

Now with a much-needed 15-pound gain of muscle, Kieba is back to her old self and feels stronger and more energetic than ever, and now says that she has more energy, strength and endurance.

Kieba contines her consumption of raw, minimally prepared, locally raised fruits and vegetables and eats healthy organic, U.S. Wellness grass-fed beef, lamb, goat and rabbit. She also enjoys the raw milk, grass-fed dairy butter and Amish cheeses--high in CLA's with raw honey and pemmican.

Kieba has a background in fitness training, psychology and counseling and extensive knowledge in diet and nutrition, as well as her own dietary odyssey.
